The Atlanta Meet Market

07.29.05 (6:13 pm)   [edit]

I don't think days get much better than yesterday ...

First, saw a picture of the ex- and new girlfriend.  She is not cute ... at all.  And what's even better is that he isn't looking too good himself.

And that, my friends, is what we call 'closure'!

After work Thursday, I headed to Midtown for Singles Night at a bar called Shout.  Awesome place.  Met two really awesome guys there, Ed and Dallas.  Ed basically saved me from an awkward conversation with a guy who was obviously too old for me (obvious to everyone but him).  While I was talking to Old Guy, Ed interrupted to ask me for my pen.  He was talking to two girls and I thought he was trying to pick them up.  Then, he hands me my pen with a  note attached to it that says, "Having fun?"

That pretty much killed the conversation with Old Guy so Ed and I could talk.  We had a great conversation and exchanged phone numbers.

After a few more older men and some other guys who just "weren't my type," I was approached by Dallas.  I was excited to see that he was stopping to talk to me because I thought he was very cute!

Then, he opened his mouth ...

I think the first thing he asked me was, "Do you work in a tall building?"

I said no and he said, "Oh because I like girls who work in tall buildings."

At that point, I was about to rule him out, but then he kept talking and he started to grow on me ... a lot.  He has a great, unusual sense of humor and I think the weird start was due to nervousness.  At one point, he left to get his drink and another older gentleman came up to talk to me.  When he came back, he and the guy started talking some (Dallas' friend, Matt, said it seemed like Dallas was guarding "his territory" lol).

I ended up talking to Dallas the rest of the evening, and he walked me to my car at the end of the night.  We made plans to double date with Matt and his girl on Sunday--sushi and a movie.  Dallas started to make plans for a second date but I said, "Shouldn't we wait and see how the first one goes??"

Matt predicted we would be engaged by Saturday, lol.

"Hey, That's Me ... a Stalker!"

So, it's time for another trip to Ohio to sort out feelings ... these are starting to become a pain in the butt, lol.  When Val moved to Georgia, numerous guys admitted their undying love for her BEFORE she left.  Guys could have saved me a couple of 8-hour drives by doing the same for me.  Thanks! lol

Here's the story:  I was calling and calling my best friend, Brian, to invite him to the party we're having in August, but I kept getting this error message that the phone was cut off, like he hadn't paid the bill.  So, I gave up ...

Then, I came up with this genius idea--I googled him.  Apparently, this is creepy, but hey, it worked! lol  I got his email address and sent him a message.  I got a response back from him saying he had all kinds of stuff to tell me and to expect to hear from him soon.

Turns out he is single again.  He tells me that he was talking to a friend, telling him about our history and that while he was telling him all of this that it really said something to him about our relationship.  He wouldn't go into details what exactly it told him (he was at work when he called), and I can't wait until I go home in August to find out, so I am going this weekend.

We'll see what happens ...

Grade My Week

07.15.05 (6:08 pm)   [edit]

Today was a good day.

Good thing because it's been a BORING week!

I kinda got stood up (I guess you would call it) by Matt three times this week.

We were supposed to have dinner Monday.  We were calling each other, back and forth, trying to make arrangements.  Finally, he says he will call me when he gets out of the shower but no phone call.  He "fell asleep".

He called me at work Tuesday all apologetic and we talk about going out that night instead.  That never really worked out.

Then, strike three!  Wednesday, he says he is going to be in my area around 5:30pm and to call him when I get back after work.  I do ... and get his voicemail.  He calls about 7:00pm and says that he forgot he had to take his friend to the airport that evening.

I asked, "Why didn't you tell me you had to go to the airport?"

Here's the kicker:  "I guess that would have been smart, huh?"

Umm, yeah.  He asks me what I'm doing the rest of the evening.  I tell him I have a headache (that he has just made ten times worse, lol) and that I'm going to bed.

He says, "Well, call me if you feel better tonight."  Umm, no thanks.

So, the great part of my week:  I w as thinking one day, I'm in a place that I love, I am finally free to do what I want to do ... why am I not doing it???  So, I am going to be a nurse!  I start school again with Val in August!  Can't wait!

Trent and I, as I've said before, have a severe love-hate relationship at work.  Today was a good day for us.  I love when I can talk to him about whatever ... even if we are screaming at each other in the process, lol.  He is moving out of his cubicle and into an office next week and won't be around to keep me sane!!!!

Then, I went to Office Depot after work today and got stopped by a modeling scout.  What are the odds of that?  I had an agent in Ohio and actually had a few callbacks but never went.  Don't know why ... too shy I guess.  But now that I am bold and adventurous (or at least like to say that I am :P), I am meeting with these agents tomorrow.

Overall, I give this week a B+.  Professional life in good order ... dating life needs improvement.

Date with Matt

07.04.05 (5:57 pm)   [edit]

Last night, I had a date with Matt from Wild Bill's.  He was one of the guys who lined up to talk to us just before closing, lol

Val had been talking to his friend, the guy in the tator tots shirt, while I was talking to Matt and his friend, Bryn.

Well, Val wasn't seeming too interested in tator tots guy so the guys were about to leave when Bryn stops Matt and says, "Wait, wait.  You're not going to get her phone number??  Look at her ... she's got a beautiful smile!"

Matt gets this look on his face and says, "You're beautiful ... can I have your phone number?"

So, last night, we met up at American Pie, a bar in Atlanta.  It was a great place.  Insanely crowded, especially for Fourth of July weekend.  Matt was even cuter than I remembered and soooo sweet.

He would say to me, "You're beautiful" and then turn to his friend, Adam, and say, "Look at her ... isn't she beautiful?"  Or I would say something and he would turn to Adam and say, "And that is the reason I am going to marry this girl."  lol, sooo cute!

Once he said, "You do have a beautiful smile.  I remember telling you that at the club."

I said, "YOU didn't tell me that!  Bryn told me that!  In fact, it was Bryn who picked me up for you." lol

We left the bar at 3am, stayed up talking until 6am.  Cannot wait to see him again!

"I Wish You Would Have Locked Your Keys in the Car ... That Would Have Been Easier"

So, it's been an interesting week ...

Tuesday night, Ronnie and Jon came over.  We went to the bar, played some pool, sat out on our porch and talked.  Val was unsure about letting Ronnie come over after they had such a bad time together Saturday but ended up having a great time.  Val says she has never kissed someone so soft.  I say I have never kissed someone so hairy!

I had a great time but slept horribly.  Not only did we all go to bed late, but I woke up in the middle of the night in a puddle of water.  I had brought Jon a glass of water before bed and apparently he fell asleep with the half-full cup still in his hand! lol  Then, getting those boys up in the morning to go to work ... geesh!  Talk about impossible.

Thursday was also interesting.  While driving home from work, I noticed the guy in front of me had a large piece of plastic stuck under his truck.  Of course, the plastic came loose and got stuck under my car.  And not just stuck ... but MELTED to my car!  Why do these stupid things always happen to me?? lol  Val said, even if I had been in another lane, the plastic would have somehow found its way to the underside of my car.  So, when I got home from work, I enlisted Val's help in getting the plastic unglued which ended up being quite entertaining so we got pictures!

I don't think these Georgia boys can call us "high maintenance" (Val, lol) or "prissy" ever again!
