This weekend has been all about learning to live without Val's constant presence/supervision. I started to realize that I was going to have to learn to do things without her now that she has a boyfriend. With the boyfriend, she needs some alone time with him (I can't always tag along, lol). Plus, a boyfriend means less time for hanging out with Kyle and Aaron since hanging out with Kyle would just be awkward knowing that he has a thing for her.
So, I did the unthinkable Saturday night. First, I went to Billy's apartment to watch the Braves game. Not the greatest idea ... Val warned me that he tends to be annoying (which he was slightly). She called me when she got home from work to let me know that she was tired and didn't feel up to hanging out with Kyle and Aaron like we had planned. As I was talking to her, I pretended the plans were still intact to get out of Billy's (or who knows how long I would have been there!). I pray that he did not hear Val say, "Oh, I see what's going on here ... you're looking for a reason to leave, aren't you?" Hey Val, that would have been a good time to use those telepathic messages we sisters use!
I went home and started cooking thinking I was done for the night without Val. She already broke the news to Kyle that she was too tired to go out.
Then, about 1:30am, Aaron gets online and asks, "Are you in for the night?"
"I don't wanna be ..." I said. So he invited me to go drink with some of the hockey players who were great! (Except for one of Tony's friends who was obnoxious, rude, and made us sit in a McDonald's drive-thru for 30 minutes after we drove out of our way to accomodate him! Aaron was super-nice to him while Kyle and I just ignored him.)
We eventually went back to Kyle's apartment where the guys promptly passed out. I hung around a little longer watching Harold and Kumar go to White Castle (ugh!) to see if it ever got funny. It didn't, and the guys started snoring (then Kyle started moaning?) so I covered Kyle up and booked it out of there so I could get some sleep before my class today.
I'm also learning how to hook myself up with guys instead of relying on Val. We met this guy, Steve, during one of our nights at Quigley's. He was cute and hilarious. Val was using her boobs to distract the guys during beer-pong and Steve yells from across the room, "Umm hi, I haven't really been introduced but my name's Steve... i just feel kinda awkward with your boobs all hangin out and not knowing you." LOL
So, since then we've been doing a little shameless, dorky online flirting. I told Val, "I think I'm interested in him."
She says, "Want me to hook you up?"
I said, "Yeah! Cool, I didn't even have to ask ..."
Well, I got tired of waiting for the hookup so I made it painfully obvious to him (which is the only way that guys get the hint) that I was interested and now we're watching a movie tonight.
Let me tell ya, when it rains, it pours. The other night when I was hanging out with Aaron, he was definitely acting differently, not as standoffish. He did a couple of small things like taking my hand to pull me up off the couch (even though he's on crutches) and long periods of eye contact. Then, I sent a message to this dude to tell him good job at the hockey game and to see why he hadn't been in Psych ... and he ends up asking me out.
Anyways, it was a great weekend ... but it would have been a thousand times better with Val! :(
